Frederick’s Staff on Review

I was scrolling through my photo albums yesterday, all 21,000 plus photos, when I found this particular photo of King Frederick II of Prussia posing with his generals. The figures are made from some of the various Prussian personality packs.

The Hussar and messenger is Zieten. The fellow in the back row with the orange Pour-le-Merite sash is Prinz Moritz von Dessau. Fritz is in the center surrounded by figures from the Prussian staff on foot pack, whilst the staff vignette is shown by itself on the right.

There is nary a canine in sight.

Richard Ansell sculpted these figures and he always had a knack for making the various figures so that they all fit together like a puzzle. This is one of my favorite photos so I thought that I would share with you.

  3. Marvelous vignettes, Jim. Beautifully painted and staged. And I second the need for a dog. Or two. Greyhounds, weren’t they? πŸ˜‰
