Fitzjames Horse

Fitzjames Horse in French service. Minden Miniatures figures.

I had this beautiful regiment of Minden French cavalry in bearskin hats commissioned to use as a display piece for my vendor booth at wargame conventions. The figures were painted by Michael Siwek and I think that he really did a fabulous job of painting.

They are the Fitzjames horse. The "foreign" cavalry regiments in the French army of the SYW tended to wear bearskin hats rather than tricorn hats.

The regiment of 12 figures consists of the following Minden French figure packs:

One pack of MFC-012  French Cavalry in Bearskins Command figures (3 per pack)

Three packs of MFC-013 French Cavalry in Bearskins Troopers (3 per pack)

The cavalry packs contain three figures including horses at a price of $18.00 per pack. You can order these and other Minden French army figures by clicking on the link, below, to the Fife and Drum Miniatures web store:

I use a 1:20 figure to men ratio so a 12-figure regiment equates to approximately 240 horsemen.

  1. They are amazing and look much larger than their 1/56th scale. Wonderful brushwork!

  2. Great paintjob. The horses are very disciplined. I still love the uniforms of those foreign regiments.
