Frederick the Great's Coach

I found these images of Frederick's coach on the Berlin Zinnfiguren store. These are 30mm flats. I get lots of good ideas for future SYW era additions to the Minden Miniatures range by looking at some of the German flats that are currently in production.

  1. They look splendid Jim, especially nice would be the liveried coachman and footmen.

That grazing horse is nice, too. It puts me in mind of some of the HE cavalry.

  2. Nice flats! BZ has everything it seems!

I'd like to refer you to the web site of the Portuguese Coach museum at Belem, a suburb of Lisbon:

    http://en.museudoscoches.pt

They have lots of examples of coaches, chaises, cabriolets, etc. Most are royal and ceremonial vehicles, however, full of gilt and vanity and might not be excellent examples of typical vehicles. There are some everyday travelling vehicles for royals here and there however and it is possible to get an idea of the evolution of carriage design, suspension system and various parts. The photos are excellent.

Merry christmas and all the best for the New Year!
