Beautiful armies and lovely terrain. The figures shown in the next section are very impressive and I agree very much with your comment about the variety in the French army, one of the reasons I am focussing my own efforts on them. A good start to the year!

JohnJohn Clementshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02591264539878321434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-21587696032376394832008-01-21T16:42:00.000-06:002008-01-21T16:42:00.000-06:00Some Background Information:From left to right the...Some Background Information:

From left to right the ladies are:

Lady Cherish Masquerade in a pink jacket. She is a gorgeous "one of" kindly made for me by John Ray. The Frankzonian Court met her in Frankfurt Am Main last summer. There she was engaged to supervise one her famous evening incognito festivities. External events in the city set everything on its ear on the night of the party. Cherish is the particular friend of Lady Pettygree.

Catherine is in the center in a brown waistcoat holding onto her hat. She is Lady Pettygree's assistant. (Willie 30mm)

Lady Diana Pettygree (willie 30mm) wears a blue riding habit a la Royal des Carabiniers. She is well-known in central Europa for her charming personality, vitality, jet black hair, cheerful nature, incredible ability for trouble to find her and to escape same. She is a Jacobite emigré. Some think she works for the Gallian Foreign Ministry. She is apparently being pursued by a mysterious lady in a black coach - the black coach you see pictured - perhaps.

Lt. Col. Enigma was at Mühlenberg too but refused to be honoured with photographic recognition here. Only his Aide de Camp is in the photo. Enigma remains an enigma but you can see him pictured in the first couple of pages of BAR.

The personal escort of Lady Pettygree is the squadron of Lanciers de Saxe shown elsewhere.
You will see the commander closest to the camera named Capitaine Gardier. At the far end of the squadron is a supernumerary cashiered from the navy for the loss of his frigate Rhapsodie (36) in a Tradgardland harbor. His name is Monsieur Briege. He chose service in Germania instead of two years in the Bastille. A sub plot is, he believes a mysterious lady named ?? was responsible for the destruction of his ship. Since there appears to be a tenuous connection between said lady and Pettygree, his employment in the Lanciers is at least interesting and not coincidental.
-----
Votre Serviteur,
BillGalliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12258909398832285314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-21376300519675902772008-01-21T16:24:00.000-06:002008-01-21T16:24:00.000-06:00"A *smaller* action"... a very relative (and subje..."A *smaller* action"... a very relative (and subjective) appreciation!

I remember an anectode on 'EvE' with Lady Pettygree just escaping fom a town under Hesse-Seewalder attack... was it that event refought, or is the dear Lady specially fifted to be in dangerous places?

Compliments en thanks for sharing!

Jean-Louisabdul666https://www.blogger.com/profile/16172686098173637906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-43344108325340501722008-01-21T14:44:00.000-06:002008-01-21T14:44:00.000-06:00I figured the Grenadiers were just trying to prote...I figured the Grenadiers were just trying to protect their mustaches from the frost. It comes on 10 yard bolts, although I could only find a 12 foot fragment at the local store. Then I take some acrylic white spray paint and spray some blotches on the felt in a random pattern. Finally, the snow flock tops it all off.Der Alte Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01578422757511400566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-53090095548726485202008-01-21T10:25:00.000-06:002008-01-21T10:25:00.000-06:00I really like the terrain. I made my own summer roads and gave some samples to Herb and he took it from there.

I wouldn't use sugar for snow because any moisture in your hands will create stickiness with the sugar. I know that some photographers use bicarbonate of soda when they want to shoot snow pictures or show the wake of a boat in water, but the Woodland Scenics snow is so good and so cheap, why use anything else?

The Yellow Hussars are from Foundry and are based 2 per stand on 2" square bases, so the frontage is the same as BAR - thus I can use them in our games. I often brigade the Yellow and the Green hussars together to create one 40 figure regiment on the table top. This is an example of how to use existing figures for big battalion games.Der Alte Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01578422757511400566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-76547197018489439722008-01-21T06:33:00.000-06:002008-01-21T06:33:00.000-06:00...fantastic looking game (as usual!) - I think yo......fantastic looking game (as usual!) - I think you do better winter games than any other I've seen...!Steve-the-Wargamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07077311120172727690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-91654602036656984542008-01-21T03:44:00.000-06:002008-01-21T03:44:00.000-06:00Great battle report and nice terrain, were the roa...Great battle report and nice terrain, were the roads specially made for winter games?
