Der Alte will get all that sorted out in the next couple of months. I'm thinking September/October.
Looking forwawrd to you attending that one,
BillGalliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12258909398832285314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-5422027541802494052009-03-08T21:28:00.000-06:002009-03-08T21:28:00.000-06:00Hi Bill,Can't tell you how much I want to come to ...Hi Bill,

Can't tell you how much I want to come to the syw convention. Business will have me on the left coast for that Friday and I would be traveling the better part of Saturdy to get there. its been on my outlook calender since I heard about it from you, but not this year.
When and where will your next big battalions event this fall be taking place? I will make every effort to make that.

Best Regards,

ChrisChrisbumphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12130234415017047875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-21023190199360796622009-03-07T04:24:00.000-06:002009-03-07T04:24:00.000-06:00Dear Jim,I certainly hear you with regard to keepi...Dear Jim,

I certainly hear you with regard to keeping everyone busy in a big game!

My recent experiences led my group to modify the scenario we presented in Canberra in January.

I think that for the larger battles that either smaller units or less units might be a better way to go. Perhaps a combination of both?

You and Bill have far greater experience than I in putting together the really big games, so I'd defer to your judgement!

A grand spectacle, though.

Respectfully yours,

Greg HorneBloggeratorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15501347647235993401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-11710214395877507642009-03-06T21:33:00.000-06:002009-03-06T21:33:00.000-06:00Yes, ditto to what Bill said. We have no plans to downsize our big games.

FritzDer Alte Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01578422757511400566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-32469809944361701612009-03-06T16:50:00.000-06:002009-03-06T16:50:00.000-06:00Hi Chris,Leuthen is a tough game to make into a sc...Hi Chris,

Leuthen is a tough game to make into a scenario. The other thing is we were essentially playing on the end of the rectangle. The main table was 6' wide. Had we rotated ninety degrees, we would have had up to 24' to use.

Jim is not thinking of cutting down the number of units in our games. Neither am I. He was just trying to think of a better way to do this game.

Another tipic:
Chris are you attending the Seven Years' War Assn. gathering in South Bend on 20-21 March. I'm thinking no. I hope you can come to the BIG battalion game this autumn north of Chicago.

It was good seeing you twice in 2008. Hoping to see you again this year I remain,

Respectfully yours,
BillGalliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12258909398832285314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-17717326364221258372009-03-06T09:57:00.000-06:002009-03-06T09:57:00.000-06:00Fritz,First please know that I love your work, it ...Fritz,

First please know that I love your work, it inspires me in my efforts to achieve what you have in numbers and quality.

But I am disappointed to hear your recommendations on number of units being played in a game. I thought that the whole point of 60 man battalions was the spectacle of the number of toys. If space is truly an issue, then why not cut the units in half and have more maneuver units in the same space.
8 Battalions and 4 Regiments of cav bears so little resemblance to either of the protagonists at the battle of Leuthen.

I am not criticizing and certainly understnd your point about the basketball court. Just disappointed at the path you seem to be suggesting heading as opposed to what I have come to enjoy in the few games I've played with you and Bill.

Having ranted, I love your site and hope that you keep it going strong.

Thanks,

ChrisChrisbumphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12130234415017047875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-81163810465566789832009-03-03T17:40:00.000-06:002009-03-03T17:40:00.000-06:00I don't know how to make maps in the blogger forma...I don't know how to make maps in the blogger format, otherwise I would do so.
