My thoughts on the round vs rectangle are to reserve the round bases for non-combat stands (generals, civilians, etc) and use the rectangles for combat stands, including skirmishers. Also this enables the unit to march in column along roads if necessary, and enter buildings if on standard sized bases. Just my two cents.Old Pretendernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-51847105664732044102021-04-20T19:18:22.910-05:002021-04-20T19:18:22.910-05:00Why not 3-2-1 basing on round bases? The round bases highlight the difference in the gaps between the bases and what's beneath them. The rectangular bases when joined as in your photo cut out that part of the difference and so blend better.
I also use mdf bases where the individually based miniatures slot into the cut out positions and these are available with regular and irregular slots. That way you can use your individually mounted figures for both kinds of games.

StephenDuke of Baylenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02192929271655893946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-70655571985038698482021-04-18T23:47:58.763-05:002021-04-18T23:47:58.763-05:00I also have the same figures painted and based on ...I also have the same figures painted and based on single 25mm rounds for skirmish games. I have seen them based in pairs of two, thus representing a "fire element" within the rules, so this would depend on the rules you use, if a base of 5 works for firing, and casualty removal for morale and such, then a little diorama of each 5 would be great.anthonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03100147959844300317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-30702411277827560662021-04-18T19:38:30.906-05:002021-04-18T19:38:30.906-05:00How about individual bases for each figure. How about individual bases for each figure.Jubilohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15008211040948569509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6504742686650223041.post-86599207025479751392021-04-18T17:33:19.278-05:002021-04-18T17:33:19.278-05:00I use round bases for everyone not expected to for...I use round bases for everyone not expected to form in close order, but my figures are individually based.
